traditional 5-step program
With over 40 years of experience, we’re familiar with the local landscape in Avon, Olmsted Falls, & the surrounding areas. Custom Lawn’s 5 Step Program is time-tested for success in our area. Our traditional program consists of up to five timely services designed to improve and maintain the health, color and density of your lawn. Scheduled care ensures that your lawn will always receive the right treatment at the right time. We can also customize a program to suit the needs of your lawn with the addition of our optional services.
step 1 - early spring
Fertilizer at this time is crucial for an early-spring green-up. These are also the months when we can most effectively control crabgrass and foxtail. You must act quickly, though, to ensure the greatest amount of control. Broadleaf weed control is included only after temperatures have reached 45 degrees or above, weather permitting.
step 2 - spring
Fertilization along with broadleaf control will be applied at this time to weeds are are showing at the time of application. This is also a critical time for insect activity to start. Insecticides will be added as needed to control surface-feeding insects such as chinch bugs, sod webworms, armyworms, cutworms, and billbugs.
step 3 - early summer
Hard-to-control weeds come in at this time; the proper weed control will be used. Hot weather brings out chinch bugs and sod webworms, so insect controls will be applied as needed. Slow-release fertilizer is applied at this time to sustain your lawn through the high stress of summer heat.
step 4 - Late summer
Slow-release fertilizer is applied to maintain a healthy turf while eliminating the burn potential of traditional fertilizers. Herbicides and insecticides are applied as needed for increased control of weeds and surface-damaging insects.
step 5 - fall
Fall is the best growing time of the year for turfgrass. We'll apply a heavy rate of granular fertilizer. Rapid root growth will maximize recovery from summer stresses. There is no better time to control weeds than the fall.
traditional plus program
This lawn care program is an 8-visit, customized program for your lawn. We start by setting up a series of 6 services to properly fertilize your lawn, manage weeds and control surface insects.
step 6 – late fall
A heavy application of winterizer fertilizer in late fall stimulates root growth and improves early-spring green-up. A proactive weed control application at this time stops weeds before they have a chance to start.
additional included services
- Grub Preventative Control Service – product applied in the summer to prevent grubs from invading your lawn
- Lawn Aeration – this service can be done in the Spring or Fall. The aeration loosens compacted soil, controls thatch, and creates more room for air, water, and fertilizer to reach the root system.
- Soil Test – allows us to make sure the fertilizers being used cater specifically for your lawn
4-step program
This lawn care program is recommended for lawns growing in the shade, commercial properties, and very large lawns. We can tailor the program to meet your specific requirements from 1 to 4 steps. We will properly fertilize and apply weed control products.
organic program
This lawn care program utilizes all-natural fertilizers and organic-based fertilizers. The core of our organic program begins with a specialized 6-step treatment. Lawn weed and insect control are optional with our organic program. At this time, no natural weed or insect control products provide the results we are looking for.
